The Sandwiched Aces

Preparation: From an ordinary deck remove the four aces and place them in the following order: from top to bottom the order is the Ace of clubs on top, the Ace of Hearts below it, and below the Ace of Hearts is the Ace of Spades. Now place the remaining ace (the Ace of Diamonds) face up on the bottom of the deck.

Trick: With the pack held in the dealing position in the left hand, grasp the top card of the pack (the Ace of Clubs) between the thumb and fingers of your right hand in the same grip as if executing the Double Lift. Do not do the Double Lift, just pick up the Ace of clubs...showing it to the audience. Replace the Ace on top of the pack and, without hesitation, take it with your right fingers and place it face down on the table, saying "I will place it on the table." Now, secure a Little Finger Break between the next two cards on top of the pack (the Ace of Hearts and the Ace of Spades. Execute a Double Lift , lifting both cards as one from the top of the pack. Turn them over showing the face of what the spectators believe to be the top card-the Ace of Spades. As you display the Ace, remark, "Here is the next card, the Ace of Spades...." Replace the two cards back on the top of the pack and immediately take the REAL TOP CARD (the ace of hearts) from the top of the pack and place it face down next to the Ace of Clubs on the table. Say, "...which I will place here next to the Ace of Clubs." Run through the pack face down and invite the spectator to select any card. When he does, square the pack and hold it in dealing position in the left hand. Instruct the spectator to turn his card face up and slide it between the two "Black Aces" on the table, thus "sandwiching" his card between them.

Now, secure a LITTLE FINGER BREAK under only the top card of the pack (Ace of Spades) Because the attention of the audience is focused on what the spectator is doing, obtaining the Little Finger Break will go completely unnoticed. Next, pick up the three cards on the table and place them on top of the pack-ADDING THEM TO THE ACE OF SPADES-and square all four cards together above the break. Without hesitation, turn over all four cards (as three) up on the pack. The two Black Aces will be face up on top of the pack...the spectator's card will be face down below the Aces...and below that will be the face up Ace Of Hearts. As soon as the four cards have been turned over, carefully take the two Black Aces with your right hand and place them face up on the table. Remark, "your card seems to have disappeared from between the two Black Aces. Now pick up the deck, being careful not to expose the face up card below the top card, and give them a single cut. All that remains now is to ribbon spread the pack on the table. When the spectator turns over the "sandwiched" card, he will be amazed to see that his card has mysteriously appeared between the two RED ACES!!!

Chocolate Sandwich Variation

Effect: This is a variation on The Sandwiched Aces trick where the setup is performed in front of everyone. This makes the results even more amazing.

This is a variation on the Sandwiched Aces trick. In that trick, there is some setup involved in which one of the cards starts face-up on the bottom of the deck. I personally prefer tricks with no setup or where the setup can be performed in front of everyone.

I usually show my tricks to kids, so I tell them that they are going to make a "Chocolate Sandwich and NOT a Strawberry Sandwich -- don't make a Strawberry Sandwich".

With the card faces toward you such that the audience cannot see them, explain that you are putting all the aces at the top of the deck -- red, black, red, black. In reality, you put a red ace on top, the ace of clubs second, any card third, the other red ace forth, and the ace of spades fifth.

Place the deck in your hand in dealer's position. Draw the top card in a way that you would perform a double lift, but take the top card off and show it. Explain "here is a strawberry card; we DON'T want to use this because we want to make a _chocolate_ sandwich." Put the card back on top of the pile, then take it off and put it on the bottom, explaining that we want to get it out of the way.

Draw the second card in the same way as the first. Explain "here is a chocolate card; we want this." Put it back on top of the deck and then take it off and put it on the table, face-down.

Perform a Double Lift . Take the next two cards off and show the bottom card. This is the other red ace. The top card is a dummy. Again explain that we don't want this card. Place the two cards back on the deck, take off the top -- dummy -- card and bury it in the deck explaining that you are getting rid of it.

Again perform the Double Lift  and show the ace of spades. Explain that this is the other half of the chocolate sandwich and we want this card. Put the cards back on the deck and take the top one off and place it on the table next to and slightly overlapping the first card on the table. This second card is the other red ace and it is overlapping the ace of clubs. The card on he top of the deck is the ace of spades.

Now you change hand positions into a Glide grip. Show the red ace on the bottom. Again explain that we won't need this because we are NOT making a strawberry sandwich. Perform a glide taking the next-to- last card and bury it in the deck without showing that card.

The audience now thinks that both red aces are buried randomly in the deck. There is one more step before the deck is set up for the Sandwiched Aces. You need to flip over the bottom card -- the red ace. To do this, fan out the cards and have a spectator choose one, but have him/her put in on the table without looking at it. Prepare your right hand to feel the last card and to get a hold of it. Misdirect the spectator by telling the spectator to flip the card over. As the card is flipped, flip that bottom card over while you are closing the fanned cards. With practice, this will become smooth.

Finally, tell the spectator to carefully slide the chosen card in between the two cards, apparently completing the sandwich.

The rest of the trick is the Sandwiched Aces. While the person is sliding the chosen card to make the sandwich, secure a little finger break under the top card -- the ace of spades. Gather the three cards on the table and put them on the deck in your hand (or have the spectator do it).

Pick up the four cards on the top of the deck -- the three cards that were on the deck plus the ace of spaces above the break -- and flip them over. I then shake the deck and sometime have the spectator "help" me. Carefully take off the top two cards, which are the black aces face-up. In a sarcastic voice, say "I told you to make a chocolate sandwich. With nothing in between, that's not much of a sandwich!".

Cut the deck, shake it again, flip the deck over, fan out the cards, and the selected card will be face-up between two face-down cards. Take out all three and say "You didn't!". Turn over the face-down cards and show the two red aces -- a strawberry sandwich!

Shot Away

Effect: Magician has spectator select a card. Card is replaced in deck, and deck back into box. Magician produces a toy pistol, and has spectator "shoot" the deck off his head. Spectator's card now has a "bullet hole"

How It's Done: First, you need two cards exactly alike. Say, for example, you take the five of spades from a matching deck, and place it with another. So, now you have a deck with 2 five of spades. You take one of the duplicate cards, and cut a small hole in it. (I like to lightly burn the edges of the hole, but this is optional.) Place the card with the hole in the middle of the deck, and the other five of spades wherever you need it, so that it can be "forced" on the spectator. Use any force you like. (I like to place the card on the top of the deck, riffle through the deck with my thumb. Spectator calls stop, and I cut the deck at that point. As I cut the deck in two, I slip off the top card of the deck onto the lower pile, so it looks like I cut to that card. This is called the "riffle force".)

After you force the regular five of spades on the spectator, have him replace it in the deck. Shuffle and cut the deck, being careful not to expose card with hole. Put the deck back into the box, and produce a toy gun. Have spectator pretend to shoot the deck off your head. Ask him the name of his card. When he says "five of spades", pull out the DUPLICATE card, and show him and audience that it now has a "bullet hole".

Single Vision

In any regular deck, place a breather crimp on any card, for instance the seven of clubs. If you do not know the Breather crimp, you can use any Regular crimp.

Remove the pack from the case, and hand it to the victim to shuffle, indicating that it should be shuffled overhand. Make sure that the deck is kept face down. Tell the victim to place the deck on the table. Say that you will cut to a random card, and cut to the crimped 7C, flashing the face of the card to the victim, and ask him to remember it.

Replace the cut packet squarely back on the deck, and again get the spectator to overhand shuffle the deck face down, and replace the deck on the table. Cut to the crimp, showing that you have located the 7C, showing the face card of the cut packet.

Repeat this effect one more time, then take the pack, cut the 7C to the bottom, and slip shuffle the deck leaving it there. Turn the pack face up, showing the 7C on the bottom of the deck - located again!

Ask for a small number, and using the Glide, produce the 7C from the bottom of the deck at the specified location. Replace the 7C on top of the deck, and repeat the slip shuffle, and glide location without first showing the card on the bottom of the deck - this really enhances this part of the effect.

Again, replace the 7C on top of the deck, slip shuffle to the bottom, and use the Hindu flash shuffle to show that the whole deck is in fact made up of 52 seven of clubs. Place the last packet under the deck so that the seven of clubs is on the bottom, and push it off onto the table and flip it face up. Riffle the side of the deck with your left thumb, click you right fingers and immediately turn the deck face up and spread the cards in a wide fan to show that they are in fact all different. The deck and the single 7C can be fully examined by the victim. ( Don't forget to remove the crimp first if you are not using the breather crimp!)

There are many different moves you could use in this routine Although the description is quite long winded, the effect should be carried out at a brisk pace, and the cards handled confidently at all times.

Magic Slapping

Effect: A spectator chooses a card, returns it to the deck, which is shuffled. The magician places a packet of cards in the spectators hand, and begins slapping the cards, knocking them out of his hand. The remaining card is the chosen one.

First, you must force a card on a spectator (I recommend the Double-Cut Force). The card is returned to the deck. The magician then scans the cards openly in front of the spectator, apparently double-checking that the card is there. The spectator is not to reveal the card, nor make any sudden movements or motions. Simply let the magician look. Upon finding the card, fan out a few more (let's say five), and cut the deck at that point. Now, the card is 6th from the top (because we cut the deck at that point). Now, simply deal off six cards. Have the spectator form a fist about waist-high. Place the first card between his first and second finger. It does not have to be in tight, but tight enough that it won't fall out. This card is the chosen card (at least it is if you dealt off the singly the 6 cards). Place the other cards (one by one) in the same manner ON TOP of the chosen card. When all is in place, tell the spectator to lightly grip the cards as you proceed to slap at them. Cards should begin to fall away. When one card is left, have the spectator show it around. It is the chosen card. The audience will think the cards fall at random, but they actually slide off the bottom card. NOTE: Remember, as with any trick, to personalize this trick. It's VERY deceptive and EASY!

Two Tricks In One

Effect: Ask the spectator to choose a card and place it on top of the deck. Show them their card and place it in front of them. The card magically changes to a different one at which point you get them to place it back in the deck upside-down. The wrong card then turns into their original card.

How It's Done: The standard 'choose a card' routine is done and at some point you need to Palm a card. Get the participant to place the card on the top of the deck. I find if the deck is a little messed up at this point it is easier to place the card you palmed back on the top of the deck. At this point their card is the second one from the top so to show them their card you need to do a Double Lift . This will show them their card and take any suspicion off of a perhaps slightly flawed 'palm drop' of the top card. Draw the card off the top of the deck and place it in front of the spectator. Now is when you have to be quick and clever. Get the spectator to put the card on his head or something to distract them for a second as you need to move the top card, their card, to the bottom of the deck upside-down. To do this is actually easy with practice, it is just a matter of rolling the deck while a thumb keeps the top card in place. What you want to have happen here is to have the deck upside-down with the spectators card on top face down giving the impression that the whole deck is upside-down. Then get the spectator to place the card back in the deck upside-down. Now what you need to do is easy, just bring the deck to your side as you explain that your going to change the spectators wrong card for the right one. Bring the deck up but bring it up so the real card is on the bottom upside down and deck is right-way up. The only upside down card in the deck is the spectators card and it is on the bottom so do a little shuffle. Now find the upside-down card and look at the amazement on the face of your spectator.

The Colour Changing Aces

Effect: The magician deals the black aces face down on the table. A spectator chooses a card and places it face up between the aces. When the 3 cards are put back in the deck, the spec.'s card disappears from between the two black aces and reappears between the two red aces!

1. You must first place one red ace FACE UP on the bottom of the deck. On the top of the deck, place a black ace, the other red ace on top and the last black ace at the top of the deck.

2. Now to present: Show the black ace on top to the audience and put it back on top of the deck. YOU MUST PICK UP THIS CARD THE SAME WAY AS YOU WOULD PICK UP TWO CARDS AS ONE. Without this the trick will look very fake. Now deal the black ace on to the table face down.

3. Now secure a Finger Break under the second card from the top (the other black ace) and lift up the top two cards. Show the black ace around and put both cards back on top of the deck. Now deal the TOP (red ace) card face down on to the table, slightly overlapping the first card, making sure nobody sees the face of it.

4. Now ask a spectator to choose a card and place it face up between the two cards so that it's "sandwiched" between the aces. While the spectator is looking at his card and showing it to other people, make another Finger Break under the top card in the deck (The black ace you didn't put down).

5. Now take the three cards on the table, making sure the red ace is on top, and put them on top of the deck (Finger Break still there).

*This is a good time to do a magical pass/action/word

6. Now lift up the four cards above the break (the audience thinks you're lifting up three) and flip them over, putting them back on top of the deck.

7. On top of the deck is the two black aces with nothing in between them! Keep the rest of the deck squared so they don't see the face up red ace under the spectator's card. Make a remark about the spec.'s card disappearing, while you're cut the deck in the middle and putting the bottom part of the deck on top.

8. Spread the deck on the table and point out the two face up red aces with a card in between. Flip up that card and show the spec. the card that he picked!

Colour Blind

First you go through the deck and pull out three red cards and three black cards. Place all three red cards under all three black cards. Hold the stack of cards face-up in the palm of your hand with your fingers wrapping around the edge. Turn your cards face down and keeping the bottom card face down pull it out from the bottom. Place it face down on the table and say "Red". Than you are going to do a move called the Glide in which you slide the bottom card back a little bit with your fingers that were wrapped around the edge. You then take the next card and say "Red", which it is. you lay it on top of the last red card but over lap it. Now you take the next card and pull it out and say "Red" but it is really black. You than place the black card overlapping the other two. You than side the glide card back into position and take it and say "Black", which it isn't, and place it down and start another pile just like the first one. You then proceed like before saying ! black and overlapping the cards.

Once you are done with that you take the first card in front of all the others from the black pile which should be black, and place it down in front of both piles and say "Black". You then alternate and take a card from the other pile saying "Red", and so on overlapping them. If you started with the black pile you can now flip over the first three cards which should all be black and than the next three which should all be red!

The Embarrassed Double

The magician spreads the deck . He asks a lady to choose any card . The card is returned onto the top of the deck . The deck is then cut . The magician asks the woman to blow a kiss towards the deck . The card is shy and usually blushes . After the woman blows a kiss the magic flips through the deck and finds one red card . The card is flipped , and it is the card she picked . The card is removed and laid on a table face down .

Another woman picks a card and blows a kiss . The magic flips through the deck but cannot find a red card . The red card is flipped over on the table and magically it has changed into the second selected card .

How its done:

Take a red card from a deck . Put it at the bottom of a blue deck . Find the card that matches the red card and put it under the red backed card . You are now ready to perform .

When the card is selected place it on the top of the deck . Do a single cut , placing the 2 cards on the bottom above the selected card . Flip through the deck till the red back is found . Discard the rest of the deck above the red backed card . you must now perform a Trifle Lift. Then show the card .

Recap. Face is the blue backed card that was picked . In the middle is the blue card that matches the face of the red card that is behind it . After card is shown place back on top of the deck . Take the red card off the top and lay it down face down on the table .

Force the top card

Then when the woman looks at her card and returns it. She blows a kiss towards the deck flip through and you wont find a red card . End by saying the only red card I see is the one on the table. Flip it and it will be the selected card .

Two Card Invisible Flight

This trick utilizes only one sleight, the Double Lift. If you know this, the trick is a good quickie with the right patter used.

Step 1: Shuffle yourself or have a spectator do it. It really is not necessary, but helps to "set the stage."

Step 2: Double Lift ( turn over two cards as one ) the top two cards to show whatever may be the second card. We will say it is the three of hearts. Turn the "card" ( really two ) face down and deal to your right, naming it the card of the person on the right. Remember, the three of hearts is on the top of the deck, and an indifferent card is on your right. Ok, here is the patter for step two I use: "Okay, Lisa, this will be your card, the three of hearts. Now I am going to put on your side here."

Step 3: Repeat step two. Showing what was originally the third card from the top. We will say the card they now see is the five of spades. turn it face down and deal the top card ( which is really the three of hearts ) to you left. "Sara, this will be your card."

Step 4: Now, here is the situation from right to left. You have the three of hearts on your left face down. The tabled deck with the five of spades on top which the spectator thinks is on the right. To your left, an indifferent card.

Step 5: Take the far right card and insert it into the approximate middle of the deck. Rifle the end of the deck for drama, and use patter like "Watch as I put the three of hearts in the middle of the deck. Lisa as I rifle the deck, would you blow on it? You see, you just caused it to come right back to the top." T! hen place the card, ( still face down! ) to your right. then pass your hands magically over the two cards and say "not only did I bring Lisa's card back to the top, but I just caused them to jump places! " Turn over the two cards and show them the surprise!

The Hidden Card

Preparation: The first thing you need to do is shuffle the cards in front of your spectators so they see the cards are not arranged

The Trick: Have the spectator pick one card and let them show it to every person in the group but you. Tell them to memorize the card and suit. While they are showing the card, count 7 cards off the top of the deck and hold them in your hand. Tell them to put their card face down on the 7 card pile of which you now have 8 on. Put this small pile on the bottom of the deck. Show them the bottom card on the deck and ask if it is theirs, (it won't be). Then put it face down on the table. Now take the next card on the bottom of the deck and place it on the top of the deck. Repeat this two more times until you have tree cards on the table.

The Sting: Now you want to show them this card on the bottom of the deck. it will not be theirs, but the card behind it is. You will not put this card face down but the card behind it. To do this you must use the "Slide Method" Glide) Take your ring or middle finger and push this card down and slip their card out.

the table should look like this now: | 1 | | 2 | | 4 | | 3 |-----------this is their card

Now pick up the cards face down in this order, 1, 2, 3, 4. You know have 4 cards in your hand theirs is not the bottom card but once again the card behind it. Do the slide method (Glide) one more time and put their card face down on the table. Show them the 3 remaining cards and ask them if any are theirs, they won't be so flip the face down card over and you just showed them their hidden card.

Down to the Last Cards

After Spectator chooses a card at random, deck is cut several times. Magician sorts through entire deck trying to locate card. The Spectator or another is asked to select another card. This card is also lost. By cutting the deck and removing packets of cards, the magician holds 2-5 cards in his hands and presents the lost cards.

PREPARATION: Shuffle cards in front of Spectator, get a look at the bottom card of the deck, THIS WILL BE YOUR KEY CARD!

METHOD: Fan out deck and ask Spectator to select a card and show it around. Hindu shuffle off about half the deck (if you didn't get to see the bottom card yet, tilt the deck towards yourself and tap it against the packet in your hand.)

Tell the spectator to place their card onto the top of the packet. Drop the rest of the deck on top of their card. (Either cut the deck 3 times and restack or false overhand shuffle to pretend to lose the card.) Look through the deck and cut to the top a packet or 2 of cards.

When you arrive at your KEY CARD, their card is the next card BEFORE your KEY CARD. Cut a packet to the top leaving their card on the bottom of the deck. This card now becomes your New KEY CARD.

Fan the cards again and apologize for losing their card and ask them to select another (maybe a court card they have EYES and can help find the missing card).

Hindu shuffle the deck again and have the Spectator place the card on the packet and drop the rest of the deck on top. (cut or false overhand shuffle again) Once again look for the card(s). Cut packets then finally cut a packet which leaves both cards on the bottom of the deck.

Explain that this never happens and you cut the deck in half to aid you in finding the missing cards. (Keep track of where you put the half with the 2 cards on the bottom). Ask them to point to ONE of the two stacks. Remove the one NOT containing their 2 cards.

Count the cards in the stack by peeling off the bottom card then follow by placing the next card on top of that and so on. This count will move their cards to the top (getting them out of the way for the next phase) What ever the count is say, "Give me a number between 4 and (the count minus 4)". [i.e. the count is 20 so you say "Give me a number between 4 and 16")

Count off as before from the bottom what ever number they give. Discard THESE cards! Now count the remaining cards using the bottom to top count. Once again what ever the count say, "Now give me a number between 3 and (the count minus 3)".

Count off these cards using bottom to top count. Discard leftover cards! Count the cards again bottom to top. Now their cards are back on the bottom.

Ask for another number this time between 2 and (the count minus 2). If they say 2 end the trick by pointing out that out of 52 cards you hold only 2 cards. Make a big deal about their freedom of selections.

If they pick a number greater then 2 pick off that many cards using the bottom to top count and discard the rest. Eliminate extra cards by asking questions about colour or suits.

When you have 2 cards, point out that out of 52 cards you hold only 2 cards. Make a big deal about their freedom of selections and present the cards to them.

Look Ma...No Hands!

Have a shuffled deck of cards on the floor (The presenter should be in a chair). Have a person (from now on we will call him Bob) look through the deck and pick a card. Have bob place his card on top of the deck, now have bob cut the deck into six (give or take a few) piles (note where bob's card is at...on top of the first pile).

Now by simply pointing to the piles have Bob put the deck back together in a different order.

The prerequisite for this trick was to have a pinch of salt in your pocket. When you were pointing out which pile to put back to gather, you simply place a few (10 - 15) graduals of salt on top of Bob's card. These granuals of salt will act as ball bearings.

You say to bob, "I haven't touched the deck with my hands, correct?". And then (Here is where practice comes into play) with your foot lightly kick the deck of cards (with your right foot, slide into the cards to make them glide to the left). Now examine the deck, the place in the deck with the most distance between one card and the next is Bob's card. (The salt enables the deck to move farther)

The Lost Kings

Effect: Magician shows the four kings to the spectators. He then places three of the kings in different parts of the deck. The spectator is then told to cut the deck into three different piles. The spectator is then told to pick which pile he would like. The chosen pile is then dealt into three different piles. The spectator is then asked to flip the top card of each pile and to the spectators surprise the top cards are the three lost kings...

Method: Take Kings out of the deck

1. Palm three cards from the deck.

2. Tell spectator to place all four kings on the deck. You then square the deck and place the palmed cards on the deck. (The order from the top will be- 3 indifferent cards, then the four kings.)

3. Tell the spectator that you are going to take the four kings and you are going to place them in different spots of deck. Count off the top four cards 1 by 1 onto the table. (The order on the table will be one king at the top, and three indifferent cards at the bottom.)

4. Pick up the four cards from the table.

5. Flip the top card, which is a king, and place it on the table.

6. Take the three indifferent cards and place them 1 by 1 in different parts of the deck. (Spectators now think you just placed the three kings in different parts of the deck.)

7. (The three kings are still on top of the deck.) Ask the spectator to cut the deck in three even piles.

8. (Stay focus on the pile that contains the three kings) Force the spectator the pile that contains the three kings by the "Process of Elimination".

9. Tell the spectator to think of a number between 10 and 15.

10. Once they thought of that number, tell the spectator to deal off that amount down to the table.

11. (The dealt pile contains the three kings at the bottom) The left over card(s) are placed to the side with the rest of the deck.

12. Tell spectator to pick up dealt pile. Tell spectator to deal cards from left to right into three piles.

13. Tell spectator to flip over the top cards of each pile. There are the three kings...

The Memorized Deck

This, along with many other tricks, depends on the key card. However, the key card is very well hidden, making it more deceptive than other tricks of its kind. Have a deck shuffled and then have a card selected. As the card is being shown around, glimpse the bottom card of the deck. This is your key card, remember it. Cut the cards, but hold a break below your key card, and then spread the cards to have the selection returned to the deck. Break the deck under the key card and take back the card at this spot. The selection is now below the key.

Take the deck and spread it face up on the table, from left to right. Tell the spectators that you are going to memorize the entire deck. What you really do is find the key card and memorize the card to the right of it, (this is the selection,) and then remember the values of the top few cards of the deck. Now turn around and tell the spectator to move just his card from the position it is to a new position, then square up the deck so you can't see where the cards are messed up to tell you his card. Take the deck, and then as if you were talking to yourself, say, "Okay, starts with 10, 6, jack..." repeating the three values of the top cards, and spread out the deck. They will see that you were correct, and you point that out, but as you do, memorize the next few cards. Look up at the ceiling and repeat those few cards, and then look down to check. Say something like, "Okay, I've got it now," and then quickly look through the rest of the deck. If you get to the key card say something like, "Okay, I know there's a card missing here, the king and the six weren't next to each other, etc..." Or if you get to the selection, say, "there's an extra one here, I don't know which," and read off the three or so cards around the selection and the selection as though you were running them through your head. When the time is right, push the selection from the spread for all to see.

As you can see, this is mostly acting. But if you can make the procedure seem convincing, this will fool people who know about key cards. This is a good, easy trick to know if someone hands you a pack of cards and you don't want to set up the deck or search through for the four aces or something like that. Enjoy!!

Magical Purposes

Intro: This trick requires a force and a slight of hand. The sleight of hand is known as the "Glide" and the force can be any force you like to use.

The force I use is two simple cuts, remembering the top card. Once the top card is secretly known ask the spectator to cut the deck. Take the cut part, turn it over and place it on the top of the remaining portion. Have the spectator cut the deck again, below the other cut. Turn it over and place it on top. Fan the cards to the first card back and say "this is where you cut to, so that's your card." That card is the original top card!

Step 1: Have the spectator memorize that card and place it back into the deck. Offer a shuffle to anyone watching, it doesn't matter where the card is because you already know it!

Step 2: Fan through the cards and make 1 cut so the chosen card is 4th from the bottom. Let no one see where you cut the cards.

Step 3: Show the bottom card and ask "is this your card?" Obviously it isn't! Place this card on the table face down. Put the next card on the top of the deck and say "I'll put this card on top for magical purposes." Show the bottom card again and ask "is this your card?" Once again it isn't. Now is the first "Glide". Perform the Glide and place what should be the chosen card on the table. Put the next card on the top and say the "magical purposes" line. Place two other cards on top of the cards on the table using the same M.O., not necessary to perform the glide.

Step 4: Take the 4 cards on the table, square them in the Glide position. Give the spectator some line about not believing them, but make sure they don't tell you their card's name. Show the bottom card, and ask them if it is their card, they'll say no and be getting frustrated. Don't put that card down, perform the Glide and place the chosen card on the table, and place the next card on top. Follow the same pattern through the next 3 cards. When just two cards left turn them over and say, "either of these?" The spectator will say "no," place them both on the table.

Step 5: Reveal each card asking "was this you card?" The final card turned over will be their card! If they ask "how'd you do that?" Say, "It's magic!"

Righting a Wrong

Ask the spectator to pick a card.

* take the card into the deck and bring it to the top. (This may be done by excepting the card on the top of the deck and then doing some kind of false shuffle, if the conjurer does not know any shifts).

* Ask spectator to choose a number. (chances he'll choose a number not larger then 15).

* Let him count off the deck this number of cards, and tell him the flip the last one, announcing this is the selected card, which of course it isn't.

* return the cards to the top of the deck. [Now the chosen card is X cards below the top, X being the selected number]

* Find some kind of excuse the count of the cards yourself.

* This time when you reach the last card to count, do not take if of the deck, but execute a Double lift, lifting 2 cards - the chosen one and below it another card.

* announce the card shown (the wrong one) to be the chosen card.

* The spectator/s will gladly tell you were wrong again. This is the most deceptive part of the trick:

* say the card shown (let's say the two of clubs) is known for making a lot of trouble.

* return the two cards to the deck and then take the top card (the chosen one) and put it aside, not allowing the spectators to recognize it.

* Return the cards taken off back on the deck and count off the cards for the last time. This time lift the last card. The spectators would be amazed to see it's the two of clubs once again.

* remark on the troublesome two of clubs and flip the card previously put aside - at last, the chosen card.

The spectator would be amazed.

Practical excuses for counting off cards could refer to the speed of counting - first say the spectator counted the cards too slowly, and count the cards fast. Then say you counted them too fast and count them again.

The Changing Colour Card

Effect:

You first shuffle the deck, and then cut it. You show the first card to the spectator on top of the deck and tell him to memorize it. You then shuffle again. You ask him to tell you a number. Then, count them from the top the number he said. Ask him if the card is his. He says no, so you put them on top of the deck, and recount them. Lets say the card you show him is the 6 of hearts, he says that it is not his card. So you put the 6 of hearts on the table, then you recount them and the card at his number is still the 6 of hearts. You tell him to look at the card on the table. It will be his card. You then tell him to put the card any where in the deck. You shuffle the deck and tell him to push on the middle of the deck. You fan the deck and one of the cards will be blue (let's say the deck was red). He takes the card from the deck, it will be his card.

Trick:

1. You do about the same thing as in Righting a wrong, but you have to know the card he will pick (so do a false shuffle, false cut and tell him to look at the top card, which you know what it is) and you have to put the same card in, but in a different colour. (Remember that every time you shuffle you have to hide the blue card)

2. After you did like in Righting a wrong, you put the card back into the deck, anywhere the spectator wants to. Then, you shuffle and you tell him to push on the middle of the deck (tell him to make a sound, it's funnier). Then you fan the deck and the card that is blue, is their card.
